Dunkirk Carnival to experience from January to the end of March!
In Dunkirk and the towns of the Dunkirk conurbation, Carnival is an institution that takes place every weekend from January to the end of March. It attracts thousands of people, "carnival-goers" and spectators!
There are two main families of events: colorful costumes are always in order!
- the bands: the carnival-goers who parade in line to the rhythm of the musicians of the clique led by the drum major according to very precise rules to then form a "ruckus".
- the balls: preceded by a pre-ball in the bars, these are big parties organized by associations in large halls of the agglomeration until the end of the night! Carnival music, variety, festive and friendly atmosphere.

Grande-Synthe at the gates of Dunkirk, capital of biodiversity
At the south-western entrance to Dunkirk, the town of Grande-Synthe, just 5 kilometres from Dunkirk train station, is served by various bus lines of the urban area's public transport.
At the gates of Dunkirk, it is a small, young, dynamic and green city! Capital of biodiversity: during the first edition in 2010 of this competition placed under the aegis of the European Commission, Grande-Synthe was rewarded with this prize which distinguishes the involvement of a city in favor of sustainable development and in particular for the preservation of biodiversity and the natural balance of the territory. The City is engaged in a global environmental approach around eco-districts or the development of family gardens.
Grande-Synthe awarded the "Fleur d'Or": in spring 2010, the quality of its landscaping and commitment to the sustainable development of green spaces allowed the town to obtain the highest distinction awarded by the association of Villes et Villages Fleuris. At that time, it had only been awarded to five French towns! Furthermore, Grande-Synthe received a prize for "citizen participation in gardening" for its awareness-raising work carried out among residents.
