In Dordogne, the small town of Montcaret is located in the Bergeracois halfway between Bergerac and Libourne. Moncaret is discovered in the heart of the Bergerac vineyard between Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, the gateway to Périgord and Castillon la Bataille in Gironde, on the edge of the Dordogne. Bergeracois and Bergerac wines
The Bergerac wine route is one of the three official Bordeaux wine routes. In the Bergeracois, the vineyard flourishes in the heart of the Périgord Pourpre.
It has 13 appellations of controlled origin, including references such as Monbazillac. Bergerac and Côtes de Bergerac, Saussignac, Pécharmant, Rosette, Saussignac, Montravel ... Whites, dry whites and reds are revealed on both banks of the Dordogne on a route lined with some 150 properties, châteaux and the "Bergerac Wine Route". To be consumed in moderation, of course, while sharing the passion of the winegrowers.

The Gallo-Roman villa of Montcaret
This major site was classified as a Historic Monument in 1926 and is now part of the heritage managed by the National Monuments. With its private thermal baths and exceptional mosaics, this villa, one of the richest in France and Europe for the Gallo-Roman period, was built around the year 300. Visit in fine weather: a 60 m2 polylobed room, a vast 350 m2 reception, the private thermal baths, the inner courtyard with peristyle.
